    For help on running TOTAL RECALL print the HELP.TXT file. For more
    information on TOTAL RECALL print the README.TXT file. To Register
    TOTAL RECALL print the ORDER.TXT file and use it as a blank order form.

    1.    System Requirements
    =========================

    To run TOTAL RECALL all you need is an IBM compatible computer, 512K of
    memory, 2 floppy drives drives (hard disk recommended but not necessary),
    any kind of monitor or video card, and MS-DOS 2.0 or later.

    If you wish to use PCX picture files with your entries you'll need a hard
    disk due to the large size of most graphics files.

    TOTAL RECALL is a MS-DOS text-mode program and will therefore run on any
    type of monitor or video card. However, if you plan on using it to
    display PCX graphics files you will need either a CGA, EGA, VGA, or
    Hercules adapter (depending on the mode required by the PCX file).

    When displaying PCX graphics, TOTAL RECALL supports Super VGA modes up
    to 1024 x 768 with 256 colors. The following is a list of supported
    modes:

    * Hercules modes: 720x348x2
    * CGA modes: 320x200x4, 640x200x2
    * EGA modes: 320x200x16, 640x200x16, 640x350x2, 640x350x16
    * VGA modes: 640x480x2, 640x480x16, 320x200x256
    * Super VGA modes: 640x400x256, 640x480x256, 800x600x16,
      800x600x256, 1024x768x256

    For Super VGA, TOTAL RECALL supports most adapters based on the
    following chipsets:

    * Tseng Labs (3000 & 4000): Orchid Prodesigner or STB EM/16, etc.
    * Paradise: Paradise Professional, etc.
    * Video Seven: Video Seven VRAM VGA, etc.
    * ATI: ATI VGA Wonder, etc.
    * Trident: Trident Impact Series, etc.
    * VESA: Any board supporting the VESA standard.

    2.    System Configuration
    ==========================

    1) (You may not need to perform this first step unless you wish to
       optimize your system performance). You should have a file called
       CONFIG.SYS in your top-level directory (or on the system disk from
       which you boot-up if you don't have a hard drive). Edit the file
       CONFIG.SYS and add the following two statements to it:

                FILES=20
                BUFFERS=8

       If you don't have a CONFIG.SYS file in your top-level directory,
       copy the one included with the TOTAL RECALL disk.

    2) If you have a CGA monitor, you will have "snow" on your screen unless
       you include the following statement in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

                SET CLIPPER= S1; (Type exactly as shown).

    3) Make sure that the file COMMAND.COM is in the DOS path or in the top
       directory.

    4) If you use memory resident programs or TSRs you may have problems
       running TOTAL RECALL due to its large memory requirements or other
       conflicts. If so, do not load any memory resident programs at
       boot-up.

    3.    Running the Program
    =========================

    1) Run the program by typing:

                TR3

    2) From here on everything is menu-driven and self-explanatory. Make
       menu selections by a) using arrow keys to move highlight bar to
       choice and pressing RETURN or b) pressing the first letter of desired
       choice.

    3) You can customize the colors and the sound from the CUSTOMIZE MENU.
       Your new set-up will be saved automatically to disk.

    Note the following:
    -------------------

    The GO TO DOS option will not work unless you have a system disk in the
    default path.

    The following files must be in the same directory as the main TOTAL
    RECALL program (TR3.EXE) that you run or load from:

        TEST.LOG
        QUOTES.DAT
        CUST304.MEM
        README.TXT
        HELP.TXT
        INSTALL.TXT
        SUBJECTS.TXT

    [Esc] means to press the key marked "Esc". This will usually quit
    or exit whatever you are doing at the time.

    [^W] or CTRL+W means press the key marked "Ctrl" together with
    the letter W.
