                        Information on Kryptic

Note: IF YOU ARE VIEWING, OR PRINTING THIS DOCUMENT WITH WINDOWS
NOTEPAD, PLEASE MAXIMIZE THE WINDOW. . .

You are provided with a limited product version of Kryptic for Windows.
The specific limitations are listed in the README.1ST file.

Check the SHIP.LST file to ensure that all files were loaded to your
  \KRYPTIC directory.

The INSTALL program will not copy any files to your \WINDOWS or
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directories. All files required to run the Kryptic
environment are located and will remain in the directory you loaded
the program into. To remove the software from your system, just
delete the directory, and the program group. We do not clutter your
  Windows directory!

Please refer your questions to Kryptic's online help function. Although
not extensive, it will guide you through most common questions about
the product. The shipping version's HELP facility will be expanded as
  more questions arise from customers.

If you register your copy, and receive the final release version of
Kryptic for Windows; you are automatically entitled to 1 (one) free
update of the software and will receive it automatically. Please see
the README.1ST file for ordering instructions.

If you had problems installing the software, you may contact us at the
address, CIS or GEnie mailbox, or call our voice mail system listed in
the README.1ST file. We will not return long distance calls received
via our Voice Mail system for this DEMO, but if you leave a CIS, GEnie,
or mail address we'll respond to your inquiry.

Please take time to read the online help and all text files that are
installed in your Kryptic Demo folder. They may help you to resolve
  any problems that might arise.

OS/2 Note: This release version will not effectively support ANY
version of OS/2. You must be running Windows 3.1 or Windows for
WorkGroups 3.11. We are working on a native version of Kryptic for
OS/2, but it is not yet available. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
You may use a dual-boot OS/2 system, as long as you boot into DOS
and Microsoft Windows 3.1, or WFWG 3.11.

                          TEST and TEST.SAV

These two files contain ASCII text that is comprised of several repeating
groups. You may edit or view them to see their contents. They are
included to assist you in your evaluation of Kryptic. Files of this
type are EXTREMELY hard to convert to CIPHERTEXT. You'll note that
Kryptic does a wonderful job of creating an extremely well protected
copy of either file. And the general release version goes even farther
in it's protection process than the DEMO version does. The DEMO version
uses several thousand less bits of protection than the general release
version, but is still stronger than the DES, and other algorithms. The
TEST.SAV is a backup copy of the TEST file should you need it. It's
best to work on the main TEST file with encryption or decryption for
your evaluation process. We recommend that you experiment with several
other types of files, but with the DEMO you should make copies of the
originals prior to encryption. Keep in mind that Kryptic performs
"in place" encryption on files. This means that it uses the space
already taken up by the original file 'byte for byte'. When you choose
to encrypt a file, the original is converted exactly where it sits.
