   Trapped v. 1.0 Freeware

 -Background-

Trapped is my first attempt at a Windows 95 based adventure game.
As a matter of fact, it is my first attempt at any type of Windows game.
It was written using Microsofts Virtual Basic Standard Edition, which cost me
around $99.00, but it was worth it. I started this game the second
day I owned this software, so I think I am making good progress. Hopefully,
This game is freeware. I will probably end up changing it to shareware when
I have an entire game to market. Meanwhile, enjoy!

 -Game Play-
The game is played by manipulation of scrolling menus. You set the
menus to the combination of Action to be performed and object to be
performed on. This is where it may get confusing. There are three menus.
One Action menu and two Object menus(an inventory menu and a object in room
directory). If you take an item from a room it will remain in your object
directory. If you are trying an action on an object and it doesnt work, it
may be because the object is in your inventory, and I only programmed it to
recognize it from the inventory menu. Sometimes, all three menus must be
set correctly for a particular action to take place. I will not give you a
cheap walk through, but I will tell you that one of the three menu
combinations involves Look(Action), Lamp(Object), and Paper(Inventory).
If the Paper isnt in your inventory it is because you need to find it. When
you find it, it will show up in the object menu. For it to be put in your
inventory menu, you must set your menus to Take(Action), and Paper(Object).
Some combinations will not work. If after you have an action, an object,
and or an inventory item entered and hit OK, if nothing happens, nothing
happens. You might try different combinations. I didnt program in a lot
of generic 'Use' actions, so if it is an item that can have another verb on
the list, such as 'Open' apply to it try using 'Open' instead of 'Use'. This
might be a little tricky, since I have not programmed for "all possibilities".
When I make my complete house exploring game, starting with the office used
in this Freeware demo, I will try to cover more ground.

-Options-
The options available are color and CD audio. The directions for
using the CD audio are under CD audio in the help menu. Selecting the
colors is self explanitory.

-Instalation-
This game MUST be installed in the C:\Program files\Trapped directory
to work. If you only have F:\ or something like that, I'm sorry. It won't
work. After the setup program is run, you can delete the zip file and the
decompressed files where you unzipped it. The setup program should have coppied all
needed files where they belong.

 -Tips-

#1 Remember to click OK after entering the data. this tells the computer
what you want to do.

#2 TRY A LOT OF THINGS! This game has some bugs in it yet, and even though
it may seem like a logical thing to do, the game might not recognize it.

#3 Have fun. Even if you think games like this suck, or if you like games
like this, but think that my particular game sucks dont panic. You didnt
pay for this. At least you didnt pay the real Author. You might have paid
some moron for a free game.

I will try to E-mail back, but I have no idea what kind
of response I will get. Please send suggestions, or some advice if you are
a programmer and noticed me making stupid mistakes. I am not
well versed on the Internet and can not make my own web page, but if anyone
wants to put my FREE first room of my game on their web page I wouldnt care,
I would actually like it. Just contact me via e-mail so I can check out
your page when my game is up.
